Programming PIC Microcontrollers in Linux using USBPicProg

 

This post is intended to help users program PIC IC’s using USBPICProg in Linux. Users can install MPLABX IDE from Microchip website and generate hex file from it.

After generating the hex file, it is to be dumped into the Target microcontroller. Inorder to do that USBPICProg should be connected to the USB Port and then connected to the Target as shown below.

You need to install USBPicProg software. To do this add the repository to your software sources by typing this command in the terminal.

Note: Windows users make use the following link to get started with the programmer.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fransschreuder1/usbpicprog-stable

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install usbpicprog
